How it is treated
Most moles need no treatment. A mole that looks unusual or is changing may be examined closely or removed and checked under the microscope (biopsy).
When to see a dermatologist
See a dermatologist for any mole that is new in adulthood, changing, itching, bleeding, or looks different from your other moles.
